We believe in mustangs.

We believe you will too.

Adopt and Clear the Corrals!

At American Mustang Project, we are a small but mighty team dedicated to finding futures for America’s formerly wild horses trapped in government holding or worse. Through awareness building and adoption support, we make mustang ownership more accessible. AMP provides no-cost consulting and collaborative adoption for first-time adopters, including selection support, logistical resources, and training guidance onsite, or near you, whether it's for 10 days or 10 months, until you’re ready to bring your mustang home.

Henry Merrill Horsemanship x AMP

The mustang is one of the most extraordinary animals to grace this land. Sensitive and intelligent and built for survival, their training requires a gentle and consistent hand. AMP partners with Henry Merrill Horsemanship to provide a solid foundation for creating self-regulating, confident horses through nonviolent, non-fear-based methods. Gentling and training involves owners and riders, either in person or through virtual video training. Training can also be customized to meet your discipline’s goals.

Born Free Rescue

Every year, thousands of mustangs are trapped in neglectful circumstances or found in kill pens, injured, or worse. These once wild and free spirits were failed miserably by humans and now need our help the most. Where we can, we can offer them sanctuary, vet care, a warm stall and green pastures. Please consider donating to our Born Free Rescue Fund developed specifically for kill pen and abused mustangs.

Sanctuary Sponsorship

Despite the most patient and attuned training, some wild horses cannot relinquish their wildness, and we respect them for that. Their lives are best suited to sanctuary, and we reserve over 70 acres of grasslands and varied terrain for these special individuals.

Be a Mustang Guardian

Adoption is not the only path to helping our formerly wild horses. Please consider attending mustang events, visiting holding corrals, and sharing your experiences with others. Lack of awareness is the biggest challenge in the development of more balanced solutions for the wild horse management situation. If you find a mustang in need you’d like to help, contact us let’s see what we can do together!
